Governance

The Town Board acts as Water Commissioners, meeting every other month on the fourth Monday at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall.

Billing

The Water Department, governed by the Water Commissioners, encompasses the village of Hartwick, about 240 customers. Annual water usage rent is $150 per residential service. Laundromats, churches, and businesses pay different amounts. This is straight billing done twice a year ($75.00 per bill) — in May for June through November, and in November for December through May. Unpaid water rents will appear on the tax bill for the coming year as a relevy.

Service & Maintenance

Any problems with water service should be directed to Ed Rood, the Highway Superintendent, at 293-8889. Yearly, the fire hydrants are flushed; notification is given in the Daily Star prior to the hydrant flushing.

Grant Ward serves as our Water Administrator, checking and testing the water monthly for quality and avoiding contamination. Grant also maintains the wells and pumps. The town's drinking water is documented in the Annual Water Quality Report.
