The Town Board act as Water Commissioners, meeting every other month on the fourth Monday at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall (next meeting will be August 27, 2001). The Water Department, governed by the Water Commissioners, encompases the village of Hartwick, about 240 customers. Annual water usage rent is $150/residential service. Laundromats, churches, businesses pay different amounts. This is straight billing done twice a year ($75.00 per bill) in May for June through November, and in November for December through May. Unpaid water rents will appear on the tax bill for the coming year as a relevy. Any problems with water service should be directed to Ed Rood, the Highway Superintendent at 293-8889. Yearly the fire hydrants are flushed. Notification in the Daily Star is given prior to the hydrant flushing. Grant Ward serves as our Water Administrator, checking and testing the water monthly for quality and avoiding contamination. Grant also maintains the wells and pumps. |
