The regularly scheduled meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Hartwick was called to order at 7:05 PM by Supervisor Niedzialkowski. All councilmen were present. The pledge to the flag was conducted.
Public Comment
Dick Thompson commented to Delos Field that he reviewed the matter with the Todd Stevens Road, which would be put back into shape from damage made by logging done on a County contract, and gave a general update of the Meadows project and discussed the complaint made by the Farm Bureau to the State on the deer population. Also, any information on beaver dams will be referred to the County.
Dave Butler inquired if the County has started anything to lower the speed limit on Weeks Road and Bissell Road.
Vinney Rozella inquired about his final payment, and upon review the Board agreed to lower the bill by 1.5 hours. Final figures will be calculated and final payment can be made. All parties agree.
Regular Meeting
The minutes of the regular meeting dated February 11, 2002 were read and corrected. A motion to accept the minutes as read and corrected was made by Mary Balcom, Dave Butler second, motion carried, all votes aye.
Committee Reports
Building & Grounds: Receipt of flag pole, flag, and NYS flag. The Highway Department has offered to put it in the ground. Any ideas on where to put it? Carol Niedzialkowski suggests out by the highway sign. She has contacted NYSEG regarding a street light on the flag. If the flag is lit it can stay out; if not, it must be brought in daily, and that would be Mark Hopkins' responsibility.
The facilities tour is rescheduled for Saturday, March 30 at 9 AM. Everyone to meet at the Town Hall. Carol Niedzialkowski will contact Mark for his attendance.
Community Center: The kitchen floor is being put in at the end of this week. Also, Susie Conklin has been doing a lot of work painting and trying to get material for the stage. It was brought to the Supervisor's attention that the ceiling looks bad. Bill Pijnenburg was contacted by the Supervisor, and he suggests that we make it look like the ceiling over the gym floor — plywood with furring strips. He quotes $1200 and could do it right away. He can do 3/4 plywood finished on one side. There were questions regarding the electrical already in the ceiling, and additional quotes from Steve Bachorik and Mark Waro. Kevin should be contacted regarding the electrical matter to review and make sure all is in order.
Mary Balcom moved to pass Resolution #3A-2002. Delos Field seconds; all votes aye.
Library: Inquiry regarding the furnace and whether a new one or a second one is needed. Barb Potter indicated no further problems with it. Recheck during the facilities tour.
Overhead doors: The problem with head room was not favorable for a standard track; special rollers were ordered to rectify; will be completed upon receipt of the rollers. If this rectifies the matter, no extra charge.
Fire Hall: Needs new panels on the door. Accident with a truck.
Highway Department: Upon review of the bids received for the new 2002 4x4 pick-up truck, Dave Butler motions to accept the bid from Royal Chrysler for a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 3/4-ton truck in the amount of $24,038.25; they were the lowest bidder and they met the specs requested. Eileen Balcom second; all votes aye.
